About ADAS
The advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) help drivers in controlling vehicles. The systems are empowered with cameras, radars, and sensors to assist the drivers with real-time information about the surroundings of the vehicle. This helps drivers avoid accidents on road. Presently, the automobile manufacturers in North America, such as Ford, GM, FCA, and Toyota, are installing driver assistance systems, such as FCW, NVS, TPMS, LDWS, and rear-view visibility, in their vehicles to enhance both driver and passenger safety. This is in line with the enactment of stringent safety regulations by NHTSA and US NCAP.
The ADAS market in North America can be segmented into six divisions, based on the system type: Adaptive cruise control (ACC), park assistance system (PAS), tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), night vision system (NVS), lane departure warning system (LDWS), and others, including adaptive front lighting, drowsiness monitor, FCW, head-up display, surround-view systems, and driver monitoring system.
In addition, the market can also be segmented into five divisions, based on technology: Image, RADAR, LIDAR, Infrared, and Ultrasonic.
Technavio analysts forecast the ADAS market in North America to grow at a CAGR of 12.78% during 2014-2019.
